I have a passion for Dirndl fashion....it's worth to give a look at the Wikipedia link to know something more about this traditional north-european dresses and all the fashion related to them. Here in Florence this fashion is sold in second-hand markets as a special category and it's very appreciated ( and more expensive than other stuff ) because of good quality of fabrics and tailoring. But, while items as felted wool jackets and sweaters are easily sold, the dresses are rarely bought . In fact they are hardly wearable, being very long and wide , with giant puff sleeves and in general too much typical, no way to mix them with todays fashion without being noticed on the street! So I decided to reconstruct one of them! It took a long work because I had to take the various pieces off, make them smaller and reconstruct everything again...I took the sleeves off , made the skirt shorter and used the extra fabric to create two ruffles on the sides of the skirt that go up and come down on the bottom and front. I like the result, as it keeps its original country and romantic style thus being modern and wearable!

Ho una vera passione per la moda "Dirndl"...vale la pena dare un'occhiata al link di Wikipedia per sapere qualcosa di più su questi abiti tradizionali nord-europei e tutta la moda ad essi legata. Qui a Firenze questi capi si vendono nei mercati di abiti di seconda mano come categoria a parte, più costosa e molto apprezzata per via dell'ottima qualità della fattura e dei tessuti. Ma mentre le giacche di lana cotta e i maglioni sono molto ricercati, gli abiti restano spesso invenduti per via dello stile troppo tipico: lunghi, spesso di taglie molto grandi, con maniche a palloncino gigantesche...in generale troppo riconoscibili per essere mixati in un look attuale senza essere notati per strada! Quindi ho deciso di ricostruirne uno: un lungo lavoro perchè ho dovuto smontare i vari pezzi, rimpicciolire tutto e rimetterli insieme. Le maniche sono state eliminate, la gonna accorciata e con la stoffa ottenuta ho creato due rouches che salgono e ridiscendono lungo i lati della gonna. Sono soddisfata del risultato perchè mantiene l'originale stile Dirndl romantico e country ma rendendolo più moderno e portabile!
